Who makes Happy Lona jewelry?
One of the workshops in Turkey is run by the youngest son of an Uzbek family originally from Afghanistan. In the 90s, this family fled to Pakistan because of the war in their country. In order to provide for their livelihood, the family made jewelry. The youngest son, who was born in Pakistan, did not want to live in poverty his whole life and fled to Turkey on foot at the age of 17. In Istanbul he was able to find work in the jewelry industry and after saving for a long time he was able to bring his family over. A few years ago he set up his own jewelry workshop where the entire family now works. A large part of the HappyLona collection is made by this family.
