The shaving brush is used in combination with a shaving cream or a solid block of shaving soap for an authentic shaving experience . Shaving brushes are made of badger hair, horse hair or pig hair. There are also synthetic shaving brushes.

Wet the tips of the shaving brush and apply a small amount of shaving cream to the shaving brush or lather the shaving brush with shaving soap. Rotate the brush in the shaving bowl until you have enough shaving foam. Apply the shaving foam
with the shaving brush on the face. Move the brush quickly and briefly back and forth over the face.
