Kokonat Bowls Coconut bowls
Kokonat coconut bowls are made from coconut shells that are left over as waste from the coconut oil and cosmetics industries in Vietnam. In this way, a second life is given to this waste and it is avoided that it has to be burned. The bowls are made by women who live in rural areas. These women, often mothers, can work from home in processes that do not require specific machinery. This flexibility gives them the opportunity to work and earn an income in cases where they cannot leave the family environment due to their personal circumstances. After the coconut shells have been made, they are subjected to a number of strict quality controls in the workshops before they are ready for use.

The use of the coconut shells
The bowls can be used as decoration, but also to eat from, both cold and hot dishes. Avoid putting very cold or very hot food in them. The bowls can crack and show holes if they are exposed to extreme temperatures, both extremely high and extremely low temperatures. For this reason, the bowls may not be used in the oven, dishwasher, microwave or refrigerator.

The maintenance of the coconut shells
Wash the bowls by hand, in lukewarm soapy water, but do not let them soak in the water for too long. The shiny bowls can be rubbed with a little cooking oil to maintain the shine. You can do this after using the bowl 10 to 15 times.

3 - Poké Bowl with everything you like
A poké bowl is originally a traditional dish from Hawaii. You pronounce it as "po-kay bowl". This dish is eaten by fishermen and is the ideal way to use up leftover fish. In the meantime, this dish has become popular all over the world. It is a bowl with raw fish, vegetables and rice and you can prepare and compose it in different ways.
"Poke" means "to cut" in Hawaiian and refers to the pieces of fish in this dish. "Bowl" means bowl and refers to the bowl in which this dish is served and eaten.
A poké bowl usually contains rice, fish, spices, vegetables and a dressing, such as soy sauce. The fish is traditionally raw tuna, but it can also be salmon. For the vegetables, seaweed, onion and avocado are used, for example. Because of all these different fresh ingredients, the poké bowl not only looks very colourful and attractive, but it is also a true explosion of flavours in your mouth. You eat the bowl as fresh as possible, preferably immediately after you have made the dish.
Even though the dish is basically eaten cold, if you prefer to eat a warm dish, that is of course also possible. For example, you can use warm rice or warm steamed salmon, or even chicken. Instead of rice, you can also use various grains. You can vary endlessly, according to your own taste. It's all about what you like. As you know by now, that is also the concept of Julien Deluxe. Live your life the way you want. What makes you happy? And when it comes to food, what do you like? So if you want to eat pasta or potatoes with bacon from that cool coconut bowl; just do it! As long as the food is not piping hot or icy cold, because these bowls can't handle that well.
