  • What material is a winter scarf made of?

    • Wool : wool is a natural product, it is durable, warm and breathable, which makes wool water-resistant and easily wicks away moisture.   • Can I wash my winter scarf in the washing machine?

    You might not think about it right away, but your winter scarf does get dirty and needs to be washed every now and then.     We recommend washing your scarf 2 to 3 times per season. Especially at the end of the season it is advisable to wash it before you fold it neatly or roll it up and put it in the closet until the next cold days come. Washing it too often is also not good, because then you will damage it more.

    To hand wash your winter scarf, follow these steps:

    1. Fill a sink or bucket with cold water and add a few drops of baby oil or detergent for wool or delicate fabrics.
    2. Place your winter scarf in the water and immerse it completely.
    3. Let it soak in the water for 10 minutes.
    4. Drain or pour away the soapy water.
    5. Then add clean, cold water to rinse the scarf. Add a little white vinegar to the rinse water. This will protect the fibers and keep the colors vibrant. And the sour smell of the vinegar will disappear as it dries.
    6. Repeat this several times until the water remains clear.
    7. Very gently wring out and very gently squeeze out any remaining water from the scarf. Be careful not to pull the fabric as this can cause the fabric to lose its shape.
    8. Lay the winter scarf flat on a dry towel and let it dry. Do not put it in the dryer because it can shrink.
    9. Even if the label says that the scarf is machine washable, why risk a shrunken scarf? Hand washing is the best option.
    10. Does the label say dry clean only? That may be the case, but even then it is safe to hand wash as described above.

  • How do I prevent my winter scarf from pilling?

    A fluffy winter scarf can be annoying, especially if the fluff hangs on your clothes, in your beard and in your hair. However, you can solve this very easily, depending on the material. Check the label to find out what material your scarf is made of.

    • Wool : fold the scarf and put it in a sealable plastic bag. Put the bag in the freezer overnight. Then take the scarf out of the bag and you will see that you will no longer have any problems with lint.
    • Cotton and synthetic material : wash the winter scarf by hand. If necessary, add a spoonful of vinegar to the rinse water. Let it dry flat.
